On Wednesday, April 29th Morningside High School hosted a Common Core aligned textbook adoption presentation, by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt representative Ms. Rebecca Gutierrez. The presentation which included members of the Inglewood Unified School District office, and math teachers from the other high schools, addressed textbook adoption, implementation, and classroom content needs. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt gave Common Core Mathematics Textbooks and other teaching materials aligned to Common Core State Standards to all teachers to review for possible adoption. The presentation was initiated by Morningside High School Algebra 1 and Geometry teachers, Mr. Moroke and Mr. McKee, with the support of Dr. Reginald Sirls, the school principal.
According to the district representatives, Jim Garza and Shannon James, after a formal and comprehensive review of the materials the district will make a final decision regarding the adoption process.
