It’s a ‘Wind’fall for Morningside High School’s Music Program!

Flutes, trombones, tubas, trumpets, french horns, saxophones, a sousaphone.

Those are some of the generous gifts Morningside High School received this week from the Eastman Music Company.

The 33 instruments, along with a case of cleaning supplies, were a welcome donation, considering that a year ago Band Director Bryan Lackey had only 14 working instruments for more than 100 music students.

The company’s gift is worth well over $15,000, Lackey said, and it has already been put to good use.

Next, the Band Booster Club, the Friends of Morningside High School and the Morningside Monarchs Alumni Association (‘79 chapter) will focus on supporting the Dec. 18 winter concert by fundraising for new uniforms, instruments, storage cabinets and bassoons, and building up the band’s ASB account.

Thank you, Eastman Music!
